The Mature Adult Program

Anxiety, depression, grief, and loneliness often manifest as psychiatric disorders in mature adults. Combined with medication misuse or alcohol, one can plunge quickly into isolation and depression. Central Florida Behavioral Hospital has developed a unique inpatient program designed specifically for mature adults who suffer from mental health or dual diagnosis disorders. This setting is designed as a place where patients can thrive in an intimate, age specific and non-confrontational group of peers. Successful patients for treatment will be mature adults who are able to maintain activities of daily living with minimal assistance. The Mature Adult Program addresses the needs of patients who are experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Grief

  • Loneliness

  • Co-occurring substance abuse disorders

  • Suicidal ideation

  • Mood swings

  • Mild cognitive impairment

Our program is specifically designed for mature adults that would be successful in group therapy for their appropriate needs. To make the stay more comfortable, we facilitate three daily visits from family members.

We focus on therapy techniques such as:

  • Art

  • Social

  • ECT

  • Psychotherapy

  • Activities Therapy

We take pride in our staff of specialized, highly-trained health professionals, which includes a psychiatrist trained in geriatric health care. Our program offers internal medicine monitoring, daily visits from our board-certified psychiatrists and licensed mental health professionals.
